ISGlobal – Barcelona Institute for Global Health

ISGlobal is a consolidated hub of excellence in research on climate, environment and health. The Climate, Air Pollution, Nature and Urban Health research programme and the Urban Health Impact Group aim to strengthen the evidence base on the health effects of climate change and urban exposures, and assess the health co-benefits of climate action. Our research focuses on exposures such as air pollution, temperature, green spaces and noise, their impacts on outcomes including premature mortality, cardiovascular and respiratory health, and cognitive function, and how these exposures and impacts are unequally distributed across populations. This work is complemented by computational modelling of global climate variations and tipping points and their impacts on health. We generate societal impact through knowledge translation and collaboration across sectors, with the ultimate objective of supporting healthier and more equitable urban living and anticipating and reducing the health impacts of climate change.
