HCD2026 Launch panel debate

Celebrating a decade of knowledge exchange, the London launch event was held this February, marking the countdown to the 10th Healthy City Design 2026 Congress & Awards, taking place at the Lowry, MediaCity in Salford, Greater Manchester, on 20-21 October.

Cities across the world are at a critical moment. Economic uncertainty, climate instability, social division and widening health inequalities are placing unprecedented strain on urban systems. In this context, health can no longer be treated as a sideshow to urban development. It is central to the future of resilient, productive and inclusive cities.

The event asked a vital question: how can health act as a catalyst for positive urban transformation, inclusive economic growth and social opportunity, rather than a casualty of competing pressures? Through expert perspectives, the evening examined how design, planning, public health, policy and investment can come together with a new neighbourhood health system to deliver healthier homes, neighbourhoods, infrastructure, transport and working environments.
